Water Management Solutions UK Ltd was contacted by Crystal Palace Football Club due to rising water and waste water charges at their main stadium. WMS was asked to conduct a full water audit to investigate consumption at the ground with a view to eliminating unnecessary wastage.
After mapping the consumption patterns from the billing and other data, it became apparent that usage had substantially increased and additionally, there were other erroneous charges on the billing.
WMS soon identified significant wastage through faulty equipment such as broken infra-red flushing systems. Some of the systems had failed leaving the valve mechanism locked opened and letting water through 24 hours per day. These systems were immediately repaired at a very low cost and consumption soon re-stabilised to a sensible level. This saved Crystal Palace FC many thousands of pounds for a relatively small initial outlay.
Additionally, the billing revealed that no allowance had been granted for irrigation of the football pitch for many years. WMS negotiated a refund and an allowance for Crystal Palace from the water company valued at tens of thousands of pounds.
